Prep: 10 min + 30 min resting | Braai: 8 to 10 min | Serves: 2 | Difficulty: Easy
A great steak needs a hot fire, a good crust and serious seasoning. This is the simple way to get all three.
Ingredients
- 2 steaks (rump, sirloin or ribeye), about 2.5cm thick
- 1 to 2 tbsp Spykos Steak & Chops, to taste
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- Coarse salt, if needed
Method
- Take the steaks out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking. Pat them dry.
- Rub with oil, then coat both sides and the edges generously with Spykos Steak & Chops. Press it in.
- Get your coals white-hot and spread evenly. Braai the steaks over direct heat for 3 to 4 minutes a side for medium-rare, longer for well done.
- Rest for 5 minutes on a warm plate before slicing against the grain.
Tip
Only turn the steak once. Leave it alone to build a proper crust.
